Anyone got some advice on appropriate volume for a FW SP. I'm 88kg and my standard shorty is 37 L and I can get my hands on a 5'6 SP which comes in at 38.6L. As it'll be a full grovellor should I be looking for more volume?

The volume calculator on their site is actually a pretty good tool and guide.

Im 6'5 100 kgs and ride a 5'11 baker potato at 47Lt, pretty much perfect for me.
Online Calc puts me in that range, so go by that and you should answer your question IMO.

I ride a 5'10" SP and thats 46 ltr. I weigh in at 97 kilos and i can ride it in super small waves. Im talking ankle type stuff. I would actually like less volume TBH as its too buoyant and i tend to feel a bit sea sick when its choppy.

I think my ideal volume would be around 44ltr

A mate grabbed mine last night (Actually two mates did and i missed out on waves but all good as i was helping my young guy) and he rips and loved it. He was pulling of 360's and decent airs to crash.

Not sure if that helps though..

Sorry one more point, i run futures controllers in the board and everyone i speak to either does, or when the change to them love em..

I had a SP at 5'4...34/5L. I'm 6'3 and 90kgs floated me fine, catch heaps of waves, still easy to paddle.....probably next size up would've been even better....I wouldn't go too big

I'm 84kg and ride a very similar shaped board to the SP, but it's 35L (regular shorty is just under 35L) I find that that's plenty, and i typically ride it on ankle-waist high days and it flies. If I were you, I would think 38L would be about right

How much more grovel and paddle you looking for? Not quite 2L difference, that s a lot for a performance board but not for a groveller. I reckon it would be fine for you though, if you want a lot more out of it, get another .5L volume, more foam more fun.
