About 4 years ago I was surfing at Cables Artificial Reef in Western Australia when 2 whales swam within 30 meters of us. There were hundreds of people on the cliffs above taking pictures. Unfortunately, at the time I did not ask anybody if I could get a copy of a photo. If there is anybody out there with photos of this event could they please contact me. There were three other surfers out.
P.S The surf was rubbish but the memory of this day will last for ever. Anybody that has been eyeballed by a whale would agree.

Admittedly when I was paddling back across the deep water channel I was a little worried. I have had many experiences with seals and dolphins. Once I actually fell off the opposite side of my board after a seal popped up (without warning) about three feet away. I also had a shark fin come close to where we were surfing. We took the decission to get out of the water on that occasion. No wonder some people consider us to be a little crazy dressing up as seals.

I've surfed with whales a few times in Albany.

Here are some pics (please excuse the boogie-boarders, I was the only surfer out and couldn't take photos of myself )
