Good Post!
- Pick the mates you can rely on for the early session, dont hedge your bets on old mate 'johhny excuses' for a dawn raid.
- After the paddle of shame in cos the ocean has gone flat you will be see the wave of the day from the carpark...and no one will catch it.
- Never force a mate who is crap at tying boards on to do it cos you think he is getting off by not doing it.
- Always check to see if there is another wave behind the first of the set.

Always watch a few sets before you make the call. I always seem to see the set of the day as I pull up to a spot. As s young bloke I'd be straight in running and Left waiting 45 mins for another set.

The rules:
-Wearing a watch in the lineup guarantees new friends.
-You'll never fix a ding as well as your local ding repair guy (Cheers to Dave from Katana)
-"How long do you want to stay out" really means "I want to go in!"
-Rash guards under wetsuits will worsen your rash.
-You can't describe the feeling of getting barrelled to non-surfers without sounding like an idiot
-The waves are always 25% better when your mate is missing the session
-If another guy misses a wave he shouldnt miss, you must stop and follow it with your eyes like it was the best wave ever
-If there is two or more SUPers in a lineup than they must joust until only one remains

Any form of injury/illness or medical procedure prohibiting you from surfing will coincide with perfect conditions at your local

If a mate calls you into a wave do not go. It is either:
a) you're too late and if you charge, you'll go over the falls and he's ready for a laugh
b) it's a closeout and there's a better wave behind for your mate to paddle for
c) he is paying you back with a) for cock-blocking him the night before
d) like the night before he has his beer goggles on and thinks it's a good wave but really like the chick, it's a dud.

A forecast for onshore winds does not necessarily mean it will be onshore (particularly for early morning sessions)

Just because you feel better after taking cold & flu tablets does not mean you are well enough to paddle out through a 4ft beachie...
Late nights on the p!ss and the early session rarely go well...
Know to go in when you are too fatigued for that panic-paddle to meet the sneaker set...
Call a grom in now and then... their stoke will be your reward. They will pay you back when they are a ripper and you are getting fat and old!
If you are having a shocker give it another 30min, then give up and go in... you'll do better tomorrow.

Taking a piss will always bring on a set, so you will have to stop mid piss to catch it.
The rule:
You can't piss and paddle at the same time.

If you procrastinate over which board to take, you'll make the wrong choice.
The time you don't take your fin tool, a fin will come loose. And no-one in the carpark will have one either.
A shaper will never get your new custom to you on the promised date. (JD was the only exception I've come across)
That seal that you've been made to believe is impossible to hit, doesn't like it when you hit it.
Stretching for half an hour prior to paddling out will make you a great surfer. Make that an hour.

You drive around wasting time looking for that perfect wave but end up paddling out at the first place you looked at.

Better to have surfed crappy waves than not have surfed at all.
