Hi guys, I need some help as I cant surf, that is why I use a kite to hold me up...

Anyway, the mrs has taken herself off for a few lessons and always comes back stoked. I thought, with christmas coming up, I would buy her a board suitable to learn on and enjoy in the smaller waves. Any advice on what sort of thing to get would be great. She is about 5'9".

Thanks guys, I was thinking along the lines of a mini mal and from the looks of the other thread, it will be wise to continue that thought. Next step, find a good shop to buy said board from, or if someone has one in good condition...

Aye Cal , I got the mrs one of these last year. Its perfect and quite reasonably priced. She especially loves it for the "girly" pink flower artwork.
You know what they say - "Happy wife , Happy life"
Check it out.....

Mini mal is the go...
But what are you riding?
If it's a short board... then eventually, she's going to want the same.
If you're budgetting.... Go for one of those ugly foam type surf boards you see all the beginner schools use. They are heaps cheaper than buying a mini mal that she might want to dump later on.
Once she gets the hang of it.... she can decide whether she's a 'longish boarder' or a real surfer.

It's like buying a guitar. Don't spend heaps on something that eventually will never be used.

thanks guys, mini mal it is

now looking for recommendations of shops in either bris or one of the coasts (gold or sunshine). As I have about as much surfing style as a sloth, and am not from Qld, I have no idea where to buy (I made my own kiteboard so that doesnt help)

as for the brownie points, I think I am too far in debt...
