Just looking at getting organised for trip next year and not really a regular flier with surfboards. So My question is in relation to packing multiple boards into one bag, that are all very different shape.

So i really don't want all the surfboards booked in separately but can i pack in a multiple bag boards of completely different shape and length, or is it too risky
Im looking at taking a long board, a fat summer board and my allrounder.

Also packing say My sweet potato is so bloody wide finding a bag that will take the width is hard. Can you pack the boards in seperate bags and strap them together and it still be safe, and considered one bag

Surely you would be able to have 3 bags and then shrink wrap them together? I've seen people do this with multiple boxes, so why not board bags? I'm guessing it would just be down to how good a mood the bag check-in attendant is in.

I was absolutely no help there whatsoever, was I? Sorry

Or just get a cheap tarp from Bunnings and wrap them up then tape it. Make sure you leave room for the strap if you going to be lugging it around. If getting straight into transport it's no problem as you balance in the top of the trolley.

Wrapping in plastic at Australian airports is expensive - in Indo its $5.

Put them all in one bag...use pool noodles on the ends and sticking out points of the rails...back all your other **** around them

Cool thanks for the reply guys. I hadn't even thought about shrink wrap thats a great idea. I'd prefer that way as i don't have to spend any money except for plastic wrap
Just strap the board together. Maybe the long board may travel on its own.. Its only across the country, but i just wasn't sure if it was a no no.

Thanks again

I wrap the boards in bubble wrap & put cardboard on the nose/tail. Then just tape them together like this

Yeah thats the go i think, i was just being cheap and didn't want to have to pay for extra baggage for them all individually and didn't really think a bag would suit them all. I'm travelling with 4 people so should be able to just book them in as a normal bag for one of us and squeeze three other bags hopefully..Mick have the airports ever got upset about it

Light pipe insulation slit on one side, held in place lightly with cling wrap ( you know the one that can be had from C0les or Bummings), towels, wetties, t-shirts, etc further cling wrapped, and stuffed into bag/coffin. Fins, leggies and camera in backpack, and hey presto, no suitcase!

I got a custom cover made for my mini simmons by crustt and it's hand down the best quality cover I've had / seen. Price was pretty reasonable considering the workmanship from memory around $130ish delivered to WA. I sent him a template of the board and and some dims and it fits like a glove.
