Is it ever ok to sneak out for a surf before you (do the righty and) ask "what would you like to do today honey???"
Has ur chick ever cracked when you take her to the beach and you end up ripping in front of her for 3 hours and refuse to come in?

I surf on average for 2 hours every 2-3 days . WIthout going into detail too much
I make a point every week of asking if there is anything "she" would like to do this weekend. I make a conciouse effort to compromise (note... effort).
If its a no, instantaniously I check the conditions....
Is this normal????

Tonight I admitted to "Having a problem" as she put it.

Bloody oath I do, I've had the same problem for almost 20 years now.
Im addicted to surfing.

Anyway, have you ever had this come up in ur relationship and whats the best way to over come / comeback to this serious issue. Please feel free girls to respond to this thread, ur thoughts are highly valued.

She watches you surf for 3 hours? Now that's a good sign. My wife has barely seen me with my surfboard in 12 years of our relationship. It's just something that I do without her.

It's a very healthy past time so you shouldn't have to justify yourself.

I often say to my wife, "I'm off to the gym now." Then head out to the shed, pack the car and go for a surf. No arguments. I don't get why but it seems the gym sounds more socially acceptable to non surfers.

Scheduling in your surf/wind sport is a good idea (especially if you have kids).

Food for thought:

Something was written on the seabreeze forums fairly recently that struck a cord with me. I think it was Greenroom who said that he checked the weather forecast for the upcoming week on the Sunday night. He then wrote down the days when he would be on the water doing his sport and stuck it on the fridge. I think he also said that he never went out on the water on Sunday (no matter how good it was) as it was reserved as a family day.

I suppose if it's written down days in advance then your partner can plan her week better and not think (read emote) that you have spontaneously decided to go surfing one morning just to avoid her.

My partner surfs - you think that would rectify the issue but it doesn't. She doesn't like it if it's - too big, too steep, to crowded (which is all the time at Manly/NB).

I think she realizes that if I don't get to go surfing (like now) I turn into a piss pot and am no fun to be around (doesn't help I can see the break from the bed every morning).

Trick is to find a balance, your addiction might be somewhat time comsuming but that's what you do for a hobby/sport. Get her to find a hobby my partner does adventure races it's taken me a year for her to figure out that I don't want to go sit around somewhere (leave the unit @ 4-5am and not get back till 4pm or so) and wait and that this is something she enjoys that she does surfing is something I do.

Other thing to do is if you spend the morning in the water make sure you spend the afternoon with her (or vis versa), or take her out to dinner and dance that night. You could also try putting a smile on her face before you leave for the morning surf, win win if you ask me

All else fails get a one of those Visa Debt cards wack $300 on it everytime you want to go for a long surf and drop her off at the mall.

Edit - if you leave and come back early enough bring coffee back with you - and yes the world revolves around the piggy bank of brownie points.

Kearnsey, I am like Crazy, I taught my wife to surf when we first met. Now every holiday or trip away we go to places there are waves. Its changed a bit now though since the kids came along. We now have to take it in turns to surf whilst one of looks after the kids on the beach. We normally get three waves each then swap over.This can sometimes get a bit fustrating because my misses can take ages getting her quotta. But anyway get her into surfing. You will never look back.Good luck.

So now I have a gym appiontment 2 afternoons a week and once or twice on the weekend. These workouts are random and can be moved or cancelled at any time.

She is also welcome to join me with her board on any gym sesh she likes .

Seriously though gotta love em aye.
