I'd prefer to see Boogers banned. Or at least all put into one small break only. One that just dumps big and hard in a straight line.

Funny how there's no Boogers section to this website... maybe it's because they are all 13-15yo and spend most of their time on FaceTube

yeh well after surfing for all my life and now doing some supping, you don;t know know what it feels like to do you do it in some nice waves,

surfing for me in ave wave is boring,

at least suppimg in ave wave is a challenge.

so you won;t know till you go ....

if's it's down the line, barrleing with topless girls on the beach i will surf every time,

but for the other 90% of the time, supping is a great option.

Not that we need anyone else to take it up (as you know)

These things arent just a danger in crowded surf, this afternoon I saw the Stand Up Paddle Board come loose from the roof of the SUP store in Doubleview and blow across Scarb Beach Road, almost casuing a wreck.

Goes to show that SUP's don't even need to be kook-operated to be a liability.

Make it a rule they are not allowed out past the shore dump, seems to suit them.

I find these threads funny.
I've surfed a short board since i was about 9 years old and have been round the world with it.
My aim is to spend as much time in the water on waves as i can family, kids, work and uni permitting .
So when its windy and flat - kite twin tip
When its windy and waves - kite and surfboard
When its 6ft pumping top to bottom exciting stuff - shortbaord
When its small uninteresting waves - SUP
When its flat no waves no wind - paddle around, fishing although i don't fish much these days

But the thing that makes me happy is 90% of other people in Perth don't think like this. They are all happy being exclusively a 'short boarder' or a 'SUPer" or a "kiter" and all the other water sports are crap.

So to everyone that thinks SUP sucks or Kiting is gay, well yes you're 100% right its all sh!t and there is no need for you to ever try.

True, but at least they're never going to do anyone any harm.

I spotted an older, balder chap on a SUP at a not so secret beach break over the weekend, paddling to get onto a wave when he looks up and sees a 12yo grom on a booger lying prone in the impact zone.

SUP chap continues paddling, possibly believeing his craft is nimble and agile enough to easily get around the defenceless and now panic stricken child.

Alas - the wave starts to close out - totally unheard of at a Perth Beach Break - and our SUP'er now realises that a once unlikely collision is now imminent.

What does he do? He dives backwards and kicks his board toward the youngster, unbelievably and only by the slightest of margins avoiding a decapitation.

The SUP'er resurfaces and a bloke in the lineup gives him a spray about pulling in when someone else is striken in front of you.

SUP'ers response - "I know how long my leash is!"

Lucky leashes never ever snap.

Sounds like standard SUP activity to me

^ Not too standard, at least he had a leash on.

Seen a few loose SUPs going to shore at trigg.

Apparently "it's the user not the craft". but personally I think it's the craft as well as the user.

When they are that big and heavy no matter how good you are they will get out of control.

Still hate boggers
