Hey guys just wondering if you have had the same experience as me with your wetsuits going gooey & sticky around the neck area after a year of use. I have found it is from soaking up the sunblock from around my neck.
If this didnt happen then I think I would get at least a couple years more of use out of it.
Thinking of washing the neck area of my new wetsuits in detergent after every use.
What do you think?

Yes. I thought it was from leaving the wetty to dry in the sun. Maybe sunblock is the culprit...

Maybe every couple of weeks. No wetsuit manufacturer recommends detergents to my knowledge. Maybe half strength too. Getting rid of the build up may be enough. You don't want to cure one problem but start another.

Having said that, I get two years out of a wetsuit, but I only put sunscreen on my face.

Thanks for your replies guys. But I think this post is turning to crap. Lol!
I use that Piss Off but usually only at the end of a season when I hang my wetty away.
I think I would need something stronger to wash off the sunblock. Yeah like shampoo or liquid soap should be a bit milder.
I have noticed the sunblock reacts more on the rubber than the neoprene. But it does seem to react on neoprene eventually.

Yes I found the same thing when I used invisible zinc but depending on which wetsuit are used it only took a few goes for my xcel dry lock to go mushy but my Rip Curl flash bomb hasn't deteriorated at all, maybe just the liner I don't know?
