Sunday. Just got home from an attempted small wave ( very small ) sesh / dip up the beach at ...Trigg,.... talk about pathetic. Never again.
Guys I'm hangin' out to get back down South this summer...like lots.
Might there be 3 guys out there all with cars who'd be interested in a regular weekly rotating car pool ?
Here's the plan : SAVE $$$ on fuel costs.
Between the four of us we each put in an equal share of the fuel costs to get us down South and back. And we use each car owners vehicle on a rotating weekly roster or something like that.
Sounds a bit official, but what ya reckon ?
Given that most have day jobs, even if we could get away Fridays or whatever.
My wife's car is gas converted and I reckon she'd let me do it once a month.

i cannot commit to heading down south every weekend for summer, i work on call and have a gf who doesnt quite give me the length on the leash that loners wife does BUT i will try and get down there as often as possible.

on a previous posting i think i mentioned about staying at my brothers property in yallingup. just down the road from caves house etc, should be nice.

there is however a small problem at the moment becoz im driving a skyline, which doesnt do much for fuel saving or driving 4 lads with boards and bags to dunsborough. hahah.

il definatly chuck in for fuel etc if anyone else has a better mode of transport down there.

also, on another topic does anyone know wher i can pick up a decent cheap wetti??
has been a year or so since i fit into mine and this year been surfing in a radiator and boardies.

Hi Bakes 11 ! Hey how about I talk to wife and get back to ya.
Given that initially the 2 of us would go halves in the fuel cost there n back and given that our car is now gas converted, we might be off to a pretty reasonable start ..yes ? Wife needs car most weekends but if I tell I might have potential a surf buddie who's cool with chippin' in for juice, she just might approve.
Thing is I'll have to give her plenty of notice so's she can sleep over at her boyfriends' place. ...( just kiddin' )
The house you mention on your brother's property sounds fantastic if you and he might be kind enough to let us kip there occassionally.
I should mention that as either of us have met nor know each other I am a normal knock around type guy into all the normal pastimes like water ballet, french knitting, underwater ice hockey, and reverse bunji and tandem luoge.

...Re the cheap wettie check out Cash Converters. I scored a steamer for $40. What you have to watch is , the cheaper they get, the more they stink...
being second hand n all. ...never mind , drop into your local Chemist and buy a spray can of Medic Spray. When you've chosen the wettie you want to buy at Cashy's , spray the sh.... out of it.
My $40 steamer came in real handy out at Rocky Point a few winters ago.
The water was cold enough to freeze the brass nuts off an F1-11.

cheers

ahh cheers for the good idea's on wetti's.

medic spray could be my savior if i am to purchase said '$40 wetti'. hehe.
still smelly wetti or frozen balls??? i think il smell

its been pretty decent with water temps lately though so my rashy and boardis have done a treat but i think if i am to keep surfing next season in winter, BrrrRRrrr! il have to look at buyin a good one, perhaps new

yeah , the 'ol tandem louge mite go down a treat on my brothers property hehe.
nah i recon we could find some space, usually i just camp on the floor upstairs on a mattress or on a swag, ther's always somewher and he's welcoming to anybody who stand up surfs and likes to have a beer in the arvo. So i would think that there is no problem there.. usually there is more people at his house he doesn know than does.. so realistically, nothin new for him.

anyways, see what ya can do for headin south.. i know myself i am pretty chockers for weekend til in the new year, and after new years i will be in busso for southbound festival etc.
so definatly once new year kicks around we'l put a weekend away for a wave or two - and a beer and sort out driving down there loner.

...definately a goer Bakes11. Right now it's Friday night, and after 2 Crown Lagers I tried the borrowing the wife's thing on her. F it....she aint into it. What do we do now ?
Until I raise the cash to get my van fixed I'm frickin grounded. I'll willingly put in for juice if we go down in the Skyline. I also know another dude with a beautiful vintage Holden FC panel van and he owns a mal. I'll get back in touch with him and see if he's inerested in the occassional cruise down to Yalls / North Point.
Meanwhile Bakes11 have a cool Xmas. I'll touch bass again after Xmas.

cheers, best wishes.

"surf cold turkey" .. i know how ya feel loner!
i just had a couple of weeks off the surf was terrible.. i was checkin it all the time but stil i only made it out twice.. i figured i had to get wet -- one day it was so blowy after new years i jumped on at brighton and half an hour later i'd caught a wave and i was almost in trigg!!

anyway, i dont like surfing scarbs or perth local breaks but driving south isnt always an option hey.

the few precious days i was down in yallingup and marg's i spent feelin tired and a bit crook.. and mostly with my brother and my gf's parents in margs. NO SURF!

anyway, thats terrible news about the surf trip and you being grounded, tell her to get off ya back mate .. surely there is some work for you to get your hands on so you can ease the pressure of the missus' knees digging into ur spine!
try temp agency's .. bar work.. anythin then you will have that special sense of freedom we all deserve.
let me know how ya go!

PS -- whats the music and how do i get in touch with laurie re: pm'ing etc???

Howdy doodie Bakes11.....No surf at Margs huh ? Jeez I thought there wooda bun sumthin' happenin' down that way......bummer.
Ay av ya checked the East coast? ...awesome.
I used to work 9 to 5 years back but I got rung out, chewed up 'n spat out.
Actually it was wife that suggested I quit and gig full time which I did for years.
Tell ya what, I'll upload an MP3 of one my old live Blues tunes we did back in ' 98 so's you can have a listen. And I'll get back to ya with the MP3 download site link.
My email address is [email protected].
Email me with your postal address and I'll send you a CD.
I got so frickin' strung out for a surf I went out at Trigg a couple of arvos ago.
When will I ever learn ?
Piddly little 2ft on shore close outs , howling sea breeze.
I ended up at Lancelin.
Just for kicks I rode my '68 round nose - no leg rope.
Hey listen, how do you go with late take offs ? I'm still workin' on that one.
Can't quite pluck up the courage on the bigger ones just yet. I'll never forget one arvo out at North Point last year. Wasn't big North Point but about 6 foot.
As I was paddling out I watched this guy take off ....but LATE !!.
The guy was literally vertical, swung his arms out in swallow dive stance and took the drop. He made it.
Seems I let those ones go and I'm telling myself too often.
" Should have gone on that one. "
