So how do you guys store your boards? Coming from a family that 'forbid' me from hitting the water, I got to keep mine in my room to keep the peace. Is there anyway to keep the smell of wax from stinking my room especially with summer coming up?Or am I better off getting an air con especially to stop the boards from getting too hot (worried about them de-laminating in the heat)?

I was also thinking about getting 1 of those wall racks so I can just line the few boards up to save space. Cheers guys.

Solid Racks make some good ones. But you can make them yrself very cheaply. Have a look at a few designs on-line for some ideas and then head down to bunnings and get yourself some wood and fixings. Should take you an hour or two tops to whip some up. If you plan them well when you fix them to the wall you can get 3 or 4 boards on the top rack - if done horizontally. Vertical is a lot neater though and saves space I reckon.

those OAM ones are good though! mate has them in his house! probably nicer than my ones especially if its going inside.

I use Elofant storage racks. $30 (for storing 2 boards) delivered anywhere in Aus. Easy in and out and very good for saving space, which I don't have a lot of in my garage.

I made vertical (boards under 7') and horizontal (over 7 feet)

For the vertical racks I've just put dowling into a 4x2 bolted it to the wall and put rubber flooring insulation under it left over from the hardwood floors. All up cost me about $30 including a drill bit.

Under back balcony, side balcony, under house, in garage, in van, at friends house.

Storage solutions as you need them. The only problem is the dog fur that falls off the Labby onto the boards.

In the shed under lock and key on some racks made from the rack department at Bunnings, just tech screwed on the wall, I then have a pitbull who protects the yard. The amount of time I used my boards this year I may as well tech screw them on the friggn wall and get a Jack Russell that only craps half the amount.

Oh, you can get the fin hangers that look like coat hangers and fit in to you middle fin slot. You can hang them in the wardrobe then. You can get them online and I know Star can get them in.

I have had Amstaffs and Staffys and by far the best guard dog was a little courageous Jack Russell i had name Jack. you couldnt go near my house, day or night. without him knowing. the bull terriers were cuddly sooks, useless as guard dogs

What is so wrong with your family that they 'forbid you to hit the water?'

That is intolerable newguy. It's your right.

Time to resolve the issue or move out. Not hide your sticks in your room.

Ingenius Doggie! Btw, the tail pad finally came off that board I got off ya. Looks like it couldn't handle waves when the swell kicked in

And Jon Cron it's not as easy as that mate. Parents are migrants, I've taken the household responsibility since I could speak english. I gotta look after the family aye cos parents have got me so far. Atleast it's got to the point where they just ignore me walking in with a board in my arms .

Just another Q, is it better to grab individual board covers for each of your surfboards or one of those multi ones (theres a cheapie online!)? Or isn't there much difference?

depends on yr use requirements. If u r just heading down the local beach get yrself single covers.......if u are heading on a big trip o/s get a 2 or 3 cover n stuff yr gear in as well. If u r going to be doing the occassional trip and want to take two boards then I do not think u can go past one of these

http://creatures.com.au/cover/multi-slim-12/12

They are a little pricey but they do give u flexibility. I love mine. You can get a decent single cover for abt $50 online these days. You can also make them fairly easily if you have access to a sewing machine or a chick / mum who is handy with one. Materials usually cost abt $25 from Spotlight - foam included.

Thanks mate, yeah I normally just have the sock over my boards but managed to get a decent coffin for $150 so it's all good. Now to grab a soft rack and hit the road
