Thinking of getting some of the solarez resin and lamp to fix my own dings (not the fibre filled quick fix stuff), hate mixing and using the catalyst, always panic and over do it or under do it - aaarrgh!

Anyone got any experiences with it, sounds sound enough in principle, can get it right then clamp on the UV lamp over the ding and away it goes..

Works well and I have used it heaps. Best for small stuff but you can glass a board with it if you like.

I like the fiber filled stuff for small dings

Yeah I have got the quick fix stuff and used it on dings when in a real hurry - does the job for that role nicely, I laminate my dings now so would be looking at getting the Low Voc dual cure resin and the lamp from the US, unless there is a local supplier for similar price? Chasing the pint size.

I've used the quick fix one a couple of times and it feels sticky like it hasn't set properly, put it out in the sun to set only on small dings, ?? What the ? Threw it in the bin and duck tape my small dings until I get em fixed at my local now.

Hmm maybe a bad batch, always went off easy when I used to do it?

I was getting dings fixed by local but after a bad run of dings one winter the wallet took a beating and I am sure old mate was sick of seeing my board in the shop so the missus got me a little kit to start laminating my own dings and have gone from there, some good times, some bad times ha ha.

The solarez resin and UV lamp should make the process idiot proof...I hope!

Na solares always stays a bit sticky, just sand it and it will be fine. I think it has wax in it and thats the sticky feel that you get.

put sticky tape / glad wrap or other clear plastic over it when its setting gets rid of the tacky feel also negates the need to sand if your'e in a hurry

It will stay sticky if there is moisture in the ding. So if available get a hair dryer onto the ding to dry out any moisture that may of penetrated then fix with solarez. Or put it aside and surf one of your other boards and let it dry out if you have time on your hands.
