Only thing I've ever found in text was in the state library system and was written in the 70's not a lot of similarity to board construction today.

try these:

The master glasser vid is good and shows a range of construction techniques from current day to tints and gloss coating. the master shaper II vid is ok but assumes some knowledge and decent skills with a planer (probably a little faster paced than is useful for a beginner)

and some instructions:

Good luck

Try Shapers Australia, they will sell you shaping and glassing vids, blanks, glass and tools in a kit to get you going,

Get into it, best thing you'll do to understand your equipment!
