Anyone got one of these?

I have been surfing an ECS Drifter 6'6 for four years. Excellent boards. I didn't find it sluggish. I surf it only as a quad as it creates drive and stability. They are not making them in the quad format now, but a few other companies are making that exact shape and branding it with their own name. They probably come from the same factory.

Anyway, I was thinking of getting the 6'10 Scorpion 2 in the tufflite. Im just wondering with the fuller tail whether it would turn as well as the pulled in tail on the drifter (modelled on the Scorpion 1). You can turn the drifter on a dime and then get up the front for the flatter/fatter sections.

Anyone got any ideas or advice would be great.

Thanks Sandy

Yeah, the takayama scorp is a re branded knock off of an ecs board..

Takayama has been pinching pop out designs from China since the 60s. ****ing uncool way to run a business stealing designs and rebranding them off proper surfboard labels like ecs.

Yet his sarcasm hit the nail on the head.

Also a tufflite will surf nothing like a pu board no mater the shape

Not really

Sounds like no-one here has have ever copied a cassette tape, burned a cd, watched a ripped dvd.

All the same

Fair dues to you if you haven't. Hold your head up high.

I was looking for some positive info - obviously the wrong site.

Yeah you are right setting up a business and passing off someone else ideas as your own for profit is exactly the same as copying a song of the radio onto a cassette when you were a kid. My apologies.

OK, I was prob being abit cheeky with my replies.

of course the scorpion is a good set up it was designed by a legend surfboard shaper who spent time and knowledge through trial and error to dial it in. Personally I think they are a bit wide and round for some wave types, awesome when it's a bit flattish though.

As Chrispy said no tuflite will feel like a Pu, to me they are really corky and don't sit in the wave as good as a Pu. Other options of the top of my head, beau young wombat, MacTavish sumo, If you like tuff lite like stuff maybe a Harley ingelby Moe.

Even give a shaper like Clearwater a call and he could probably sort you for the same cost as a tuflit scorp.

Maybe post your q in the long board forum more guys in there ride that type of board than the guys in here. There is post about the scorp on there now I think.

You should be able to go to any shaper and get them to shape what you want, you arnt confined by the models that they have, that's really a marketing strategy, ask and you should get what you want

Epoxy is great in bigger boards and glassy conditions.
Not so in bigger waves or windy, backwash.

I beg to differ. I love them. You just go down a size or two. A double bonus. I was led to believe that tuflites weren't in the Aussie market anymore.

Tufflite is different to epoxy eps though. Tufflite is like a boat...the same build as generic sups
