Tried to search for a thread on custom wetsuits but had no luck, so I started a new thread... the reason being is I wanted to know has anybody had a custom wetsuit done by S2 wetsuits in Fremantle before? They are apparently also known as Sirocco wetsuits I've been told..... I'm looking at getting one (steamer most likely) thur them and was just interested if anybody had any feedback on the quality of their work etc etc.. cheers Kaz.

No, but I have heard good reports from Patagonia and I think they do customs but very expensive. Ive got an Oneil atm and when that dies Im going to get a Patagonia.

there is a kiwi firm who do great suits called seventh wave...they do customs as well. With the currency pick up may make it affordable. And you well may the GST back as well. I used to buy seventh wave 5/4/3's back in the early 90's n they were good suits then so I imagine they have only got better. Thats what they all use down South in NZ to keep warm.

I've got a Seventh Wave springsuit. It's pretty good, but I wouldn't pay the money for the top of the range steamer. It's stiffer rubber than you'd think based on what they say they use.

If you really want custom find a Japanese company that has some English on their website and hit them up. There are a few. Apparently it can be worth it.

Really, I don't reckon custom is necessary these days. You'd have to have some weird body shape to not fit one of the majors, given how flexible and stretchy they are. I've currently got a Seventh Wave, a Quiky, an old O'Neill, an old Xcel, a Rip Curl. All fit really well, no problems with any and supposedly they are pretty different. I mean, I can tell minor differences when you try different brands on one after another in the changerooms, but they're all pretty good.

I've had a custom sirocco suit 2 suits ago, it fitted well and was decent enough but... at the time they were still miles behind the state of the art from a construction perspective (still using glued and blind stitched seams etc) so I'd be hoping that they've come a long way.

I now own an Xcel suit which I bought while travelling and it is by far the most comfortable and warm suit I've ever owned.

Ta for that ^^^ ohh and the other replies.

One other thing tho, is 5mm super stretch wetsuit material they use in zippless wetsuits warm compared to 5mm standard neoprene? I was told that they soak up water, so my thinking is they aren't as warm if that's the case -I think anyway... ta.

I would be thinking you mean 0.5mm for the L/S vests and the like. I reakon these are the best thing in our summers as we tend to get a bit of wind, both offshore in the morning and onshore in the arvo's. These provide just enough warm without being too hot or restrictive. Also sun protection. Never noticed any water soaking issues.
