Just about every surf these days I use my wax comb first to take a layer of wax off first. It's surpising how much lighter my board is when I do that. Handles better too. Instead of chucking the old combed wax in the bin, I've been rolling it into a ball, pressing it together so that it compacts, and making up a new bit of recycled wax which gets bigger as I add to it.
...works. saves a few coins.

Yep, I definatley agree mate. How cool is it ay. Its like ur surfin a new board everytime. With that ball of wax your saving up, simply just throw it in the washing machine and it will be just like new . It gets all the dirt and crap out of it!

I call my lump of recycled wax "visitor's wax".

I keep it for when some knob asks me in the carpark if he can borrow some wax. Hand em the dirty black lump of visitors wax and watch as they feel obliged to use it.

Also offer it to your mates when you give them a lift to he beach. Teaches them to bring their own wax
