Hi,
So I've never surfed in my life but at the beach heaps.
Bought a surf board in a spur of the moment but it's got a few dings and dents.
Was hoping I could get some advice about how to fix her up so I can start teaching my self.
Anything would be great

What to buy? What to do? How to fix? Any help.

Cheers guys

My first piece of advice would be to get something easier to learn on. My second piece of advice is to please learn about surf etiquette before paddling out.

Happy days

Surf shop. Solarez in a tube. Squeeze. Fill. Wipe off excess. Sunlight. Half an hour later sand flat.

Surf.

Next dings, learn how to use glass and resin.

Almost sounds too easy to be true.
Cheers for the tip.

Correct.
'Not an ideal learner' is also correct.

I'd take those deck grips off as well, (use a razor blade and gunk remover) and scrape off the old wax.

+1 for learning about surf etiquette before getting to the beach. If you do what everyone else does and roll up then follow the herd of newbies, you'll just pick up the same bad habits as the rest of them.

There's also plenty of swell around at the moment - know your limits.

Nah. Leave the deck grip on so your learner status is screamed to experience surfers in neon lights. It'll be a bigger warning to stay clear than the buzz trucks make when reversing.

Jeez it would be rock hard by now, that board looks late 80s early 90s.

Cover dings liberally with duct tape. Promising yourself you'll repair them after one more surf...Reapply duct tape as required.

I love those type of boards! I just got one similar and paddled it. What a pig of a thing! 6'8 and paddles worse than my 6'2! But how's the style! Leave the deck grip on and Rock the yellow board! My advice, don't go reading up too hard on etiquette, just surf the thing! Actually, just paddle it.. You won't surf it! Just start at some beginner wave and learn the etiquette by watching how others operate. Just a tip, that board won't get up and boogie unless it drives down a bigger wave. It was made in an era when men had hair on their chest and surfed like men. Watch early 90s surf vids to see how those boards would surf. I ride old style boards because I don't have much money but I love them. Luke Egan, Shane Herring etc! Keep that board and surf it in a few years.
