classic!
I bought a JS Pier Pony, a few months ago, when Star were getting rid of all their old JS's.
Suggested size and volume had me walking out the door with a 5'2.
First surf - paddling had most of my legs hanging off the board and me thinking what the f%ck have I done.
First wave saw my back foot miss the pad completely and me heading face first for the reef and the wtf being reinforced.
But after a bit of jigging and fine tuning to paddling technique and positioning the board rips.
They are super fast, to the point that you can tangle and bumble your feet at the beginning a bit, until you get them sussed.
But in waist and under, or down the line waves in the metro, I wouldn't ride anything else. One pump and they fly, tail slides and 360's a breeze.
Makes the terrible and/or marginal thoroughly enjoyable.
