Some mean pits coming in. A shame to see Laurie Towner blow his shoulder out first wave - he showed big balls getting it popped back i on the beach and then paddling back out again.

Kelly just asked whats the craziest thing Jamie O'Brain has done:

"Well JOB had a rave at his house last night, dance music blaring all night ... I wasn't invited"

Haha.

That JJF heat was nuts. He is unreal. Some of these heats are weird with such low scores winning. I am enjoying Mason's style efforts.

Some of you guys must have problems with the way kooks like KS are calling wave size, huh? (judging by the responses in the other thread)

Some mad drops being had out there. Julian Wilson was insane and Slater has taken a few beatings whilst attempting some he'll drops. JJF looks like he will win it unless something mad happens. He is just always in the right spot in every heat - wave magnet

Watched Kelly earlier, riding a 5'11 -freak, he looked pretty good considering although as has been said he took a few hits .... talking about taking hits at pipeline, John John's mouth didn't look great - half his face was swelled up.

Parko beat JOB who was waiting for a long time for a wave and one never came. Conditions far from perfect today. Slater is on a 5'6" today!!!

The last few minutes of the KS vs JJF was insane. Can not believe that JJF gave up priority with 2 mins to go. Slater was comboed with 3 minutes to go and he gets a 9.7 then a 7.83 2 mins later after JJF tried to better his 7. Wow - Slater looked gone for all money.

this is exactly what I was talking about in other threads. It CLEARLY is not 6 to 8 foot, clearly plenty more. But because someone calls it much less everyone gives more respect. Why don't ya pull it out of your pants and bat off to the big fella. Haha!

Push come to shove, it is CLEARLY not 6 to 8 foot FFS!

It clearly was, according to the standard outlined in the other thread. The commentators agree - I heard Shane, KS and Occy and one of the organiser guys on the stage at the end all using the same standard that I would use. Nothing to do with respect. 10-12' at the beginning of the event dropping to 6 feet at the end.

So obviously at least one person does have a problem with those kooks . Funny stuff.

You can think of "feet" as "weird surfing height measurement feet" if it makes you feel better. But I'm pretty comfortable using the same system as the guys I mentioned earlier (and just about everyone else I've ever come across) and I'll continue to do so. You must get confused reading surf magazines/articles/watching videos/etc. For me, it's crystal clear.

Another kook that I just came across - 40s in this kook shows that even saffas can't call wave height correctly:
