Hey guys, Im from perth and decided to take up surfing and get lessons at the moment. What I was wondering is where can I go to surf that I won't be bothering experienced surfers. I don't want to be a kook and have read a lot about surfing etiquette but I just don't trust myself out there just yet in doing something stupid.

Also all my mates don't surf so are there clubs or anywhere I can join to surf because I know that surfing by yourself especially when starting out is dangerous.

Cheers all.

Hi Newguy and welcome to the forum.

Excellent hobbie you have decided to pursue .

I would just use the stretch of beach between Trigg and Scarborough mate.

Good luck , and stick with it

Howdy newguy...

Perhaps try the northern Mullaloo carparks. Rule of thumb is that it is (roughly) 3/4 the size of Trigg. Note that it can have a tendency to dump - so it needs a mid tide. But on it's day, worth a paddle, and 1/4 the crowd of the Trigg area... Note that it typically does not have much of a wave in Summer - so up until about November is it.

If you're up for a drive, the back-beach at Lancelin is where I take my kids to learn. Walk 10min south along the beach and you should be able to find an area to yourself.

Enjoy.
