Working your core is another good thing and even the balancing balls because if you think about it, 'popping up' is basically you balancing on a board on an unstable moving surface. Other exercises include lunges (like you are compressed when up on your legs) and even the cable machine at the gym is good because depending on how you pull the cables with your core, it's exercising that twisting motion you do when you go for turns.
You can also try 'push up jumps' - where in a push up position you 'jump' and tuck your legs underneath you or in the position just before you are standing up. Bear in mind, this is just an exercise I have thought up on the spot during lunch break at work
