Hahahaha what an absolute flog.
Just another local with an ego thinking he owns the joint.
Bitter old man wanting free handouts for the locals.
Hahahaha you go over there and tell him how wrong he is then and see how many teeth you have left
A point if you have never been, the North Shore is mostly private properties that restrict access to beaches. A few of the bigger spots have car parks but they are not massive. Often you have to park and then walk a fare distance to surf still, whilst the rich outsiders buy up the houses on the water. Also the main road is kinda a two lane highway that heads both directions and if you get a grid lock its just stop and wait.
I can well see how the locals get an attitude to outsiders but having said that they were very very friendly, they looked scary and from people i meet and talked to it was a violent place 20 years back with clashes between locals and new comers common.
The only agro i saw was in Waikiki a paddle boarder accidentally got dumped near two German boogers and they let fly. Real tough of these two to go off at a girl and they were soon told to calm their farm. I will say i actually enjoyed the rest of that surf as i now had a target for my 9' NSP each wave.

Actually some of the best locals i found were the Paddle boarders. They would always sit or kneel between sets, and often never competed for waves with the surfers. The bigger day i watched Pipe i would have said one local kid was getting nearly 60 % of all the waves, but he did tend to miss the really big sets. They seemed to be for more patient locals.
Out of the surf I did find one shop that had a A4 sign on the counter, Local or Military receive 15% discount standard..

But most business were so excited to serve it was embarrassing. What a place but i can see it would be mental when the ASP train hits town
