Hi,

I started with a 9'6" epoxy longboard, and am now using an 8' cheap foam board.

I would like to get either an epoxy or fibreglass board that is a little shorter.

Question is, how short? 7' ? 7'6" Or stick with 8' ?

I surf in the Gold Coast, Qld. Am 33 years old, 185 cm tall, 90 kg.

I have been surfing mainly on the whitewater, but I am starting to transition to some of the smaller green waves.

Thanks!

Stay on the foamy until you are surfing the green wave for a bit. The good thing about a foamy is that if you want to surf the wave for a longer than a few metres you have to stay low, otherwise it is super tippy and off you go.

Staying low is a good habit to start with .

And buy a new board because that always makes happiness

Don't hurry the step down in size, Volume is your friend at the moment, more foam more fun, like Chrispy says, stick with what you have for a bit. If you Chomping at the bit to go shorter, make it wide (21-22") and thick (2 3/4" - 3").
