I'm planning a trip to NZ, and either going to Northland or Taranaki areas. Anyone have experiences at either locations? I don't mind what time of the year, I have leave to spend and can go whenever. I prefer slightly less quality if it means less crowds.
As an aside, also a keen mountain biker, so some nice trails nearby would be great.
In just over three weeks we did both coasts of the North Island and had an epic time, and great surf. NZ is riddled with good spots, heaps of uncrowded waves mid week.
