Arvo Gents,
Can anyone advise a good spot to head for waves in NZ at either Xmas / New Year or Easter.

Potentially travelling in a Maui Camper with wife and kids. Looking for scenic spots with plenty of peaks, reasonably consistent swell and not to windy. 7 day window of opportunity.Am I asking too much?

Due to limited time, is there an area of NZ we should focus on? Quiver will include kneeboard and maybe a stubby. Would like to stop in around the Raglan region, to at least have 1 paddle at the famous point, even if it's ordinary. Are there beachies around there if the point is not working" Or should we focus on another part of NZ at these peak times of the year.

Due to having family on board I don't have time to nick off in search of seclusion - we want to pull up and surf.

Any info appreciated.

Regards,
Lance

Raglan and the whole Taranaki region-it's a volcano, so round and offshore somewhere-just keep driving-heaps of spots-reef, beach, point. Or Gisborne region, beautiful area and heaps of waves. Just a coupla' suggestions. There's a great book you can pick up in Raglan that has all the NZ surf spots-do an online search and you'll find heaps of info.

lance if you like lefts u should come to WA. I will swap with you for bells and winkis and phillip island!

As regards NZ, the east coast *tends*(NB unpredictable NZ weather disclaimer) to get better weather (a consideration if you're with the family, although summer *should* be good weather). Corromadle has one beach with thermal pools (dig a hole in the beach) for the fam and a surf beach out front I think - but might rely on pacific (cyclonic?) NE swells. Taranaki is a good bet and the volcanoe is pretty cool (maybe go for a walk in the national park?).

I'm going in a week and a half, if you have any more info send it my way. chrz

Robin,

Thanks for the tips - NZ is momentarily off for me now this Xmas unfortunately. WA is on the to do list though along with NZ, Sumba, Sri Lanka and about a dozen os ski resorts.

You should get to Vic though - East Coast / PI - in Feb or West Coast Autumn - both sides are really consistent in the right months.

Cheers,
Lance

Yeah i'll vouch for that too.
No one should even look for any other waves her in WA, just go to Trigg point.
As for down south being a hoax, the proof is in a movie called Stranger Than Fiction. I'ts all lies, lies, lies. Trigg is the go!!!!
