Hi,
I'm a Kiteboarder who would like to lern surfin. Now I wonder which Board would suit me best. Ideal if I could use it a little longer then just for the startup. Am I right that the Mini Mal would be the better Option then?
Which Size would you recommend for me? 1,95m (6.4ft) @ 75kg. 8'0 or even above?

Thx for ur suggestions,
Marcus

I'd be aiming for around the 7'6 ish range if you want an intermediate start up board, but then again a bigger board might be the go first up. You could always trade it when ever ur ready, they hold thier value as long as you look after it.
Anyways mate, hope this helps.

Welcome aboard

IMO,because your a light weight (lucky bugger) If you want a mini mal you could start on anything from a 7 foot fun board to an 8 footer, but your weight and coming from a kiteboarding background why not go striaght for a FISH shape!
I am no fish expert so I can't recommend size length, width, depth I will leave that to someone with more knowledge!
If you start on a mini mal,I think you will be looking at trading it in a couple of months,a fish will give you more value for your bucks

Thx Guys,
I'll look for both, mini mal and fish. See if I can get a good bargain somewhere, whatever comes first :)

I suppose it is the same as with kiteboarding - the first equipment gets a lot of dents and scratches - what is the best Option to get used Boards along the southeast coast? Trading Post?

if you want a fish, you'll get away with one about 6'10", that'll see you through learning to riding, but fish these size tend to be no good once the waves get much past shoulder height, and they don't really surf in the pocket the way fish are intended to be surfed anyway, once they get over 6'6" they are basically for old fat guys, which you describe yourself as not being.
kearnsy's on the money, a mini mal of around 7'6" will serve you well, from learning to overhead days, to lightwind kitesurfing.
