Hi everybody

I work in sales for a beer company.

Our marketing guys are playing with a beer name with a surfing theme.

They've landed on *Insert Style of Beer* 'Betty'

I'd never heard of this, but as my username would suggest, I'm not a surfer. It apparently refers to a female surfer (correct me if I'm wrong)

My question:

Is Betty a commonly used or at least well recognized term used amongst Aussie Surfers?

I'm presuming the average guy or girl on the street won't know it?

I think they're getting confused with Gidget, which was TV show with a girl surfer in the 60's. Only really really really old blokes would remember...

Your doing it all wrong man.
cut me in but you can have this for free

"insert name of beer" wahine

there is a slight concern of cultural appropriation however it is an openly used term amongst surfer to describe those of the female form.
the beer will be extremely popular amongst the Hawaiian and Polynesian people and travelling surfer.
In the us where the term is common in the surfing community it opens a market of some 300 million people

If your smart you'd also make it on an island where there is surf employ the locals and export globally using the East Indies Batavia sea route.
This would ensure coverage throughout all of the island nations and maintain a traditional trade route in these globally troubling and uncertain times.
The investment into the local economy would ensure a grass root and guerilla marketing campaign would invariably take effect maximising returns and increasing share price.
It would build consumer and brand awareness far quicker by word of mouth and brand recognition with a sense of familiarity and trust.

With a perfect franchise now established and enabling international trade via geographically advantageous trade routes this franchise model can than be rolled out across the Pacific Ocean, encroaching into the Indian Ocean and as far north as Greenland.
The southern supply route would be slightly harder to achieve due to the tyranny of distance with lack of ports and safe harbours.
Nonetheless this could also be overcome with time and strategic planning. All of which will be discussed during my next Ted talk.

Moving forward my rates are $200 an hour with a generous bonus scheme, whilst no one has agreed to these terms prior I also don't think they were aware I could type 163 words a minute with only 173 spelling mistakes.

no need to thank me just doing my civic duty
