Hi, are there any classes or workshops around Perth where you can learn how to make your own board? I know there is a lot of info on the web but I think a few tips & tricks, the right tools etc would be helpful to avoid some beginner mistakes.

yes Colin stocks just about everything you need, but its hard to get good info out of him.

I've found the whole shaping scene in perth very secretive. nobody is willing to answer any questions straight up.
Look into swaylocks, surfer bulletin board, watch shaping 101 and glassing 101 like 20 times!

The best cheap planer u can get is from super cheap auto. the green one. a few mods and its better than a $400 one, and only costs $70!!!

the thing at star surf i'm not so sure about. its about the cost of the board you would pay just to watch a guy shape it for ya and then they send it off to get glassed. The surfboard studio in melbourne is mad. went there on a recent holiday to get some stock. If only perth had the same setup!

hahaha tux. last bloke i knew who got a board glassed and plugs installed in Perth was charged $350 !!! He taught himself to glass after that!
