Met a few guys that have already done it, a guy in the mid 80's and another in around 90 would have been heaps harder then, but the world has changed, can't do it without sponsors now or a blog, good luck to him.
Met a guy that decided to challenge himself by catching public transport from London to Cape Town, he had some stories.

hey bub... glad to see you got some mates who can possibly help me out with surf spots and advice...

but first things first, ill be doing this trip alone bud and hitchhiking so i apologise if thats been done before too. if however i had wanted to be the first to do something then i might have tried to fly a space craft to the moon...oops! wait thats been done too, guess theres no point chasing that dream either...

secondly, i dont doubt i will get some amazing stories along the way... ill take down your personal email and keep you informed...

and thirdly i chose to have sponsors and awesome companies like seabreeze publicise my journey to show the world whats out there and help motivate lonley, uninspired surfers, (not unlike yourself), and of course anyone else whos interested, to get out from behind your computer screen and experience something different...

thanks for the comment mate... after working hard to organise this trip its comments like these that make me re-realise why im doing this trip after all...

keep posted on my NEW site...

Christ mate, I hope the trip helps chill you out a bit. Pretty sure Crustt wasn't having a go.

Anyway, hope it all goes well for you. Score some waves and some life time memories to go with em.

Well the more I read you response the less I feel about your trip. have you spent anytime overseas? If you havnt you are going to have to pull your head in, a bad attitude like that wont get you very far as JB said. Plus If I was a sponor and read that I would pull all suport for the venture, but thats just my opinion.

getting offended by a forum response (to a cool trip you have planned for your own personal growth) = first world problem

sure to get some perspective relatively soon! i'd just chill and focus energy on my trip. good luck

Hey bub, I wasn't having a go at you, I was just, let's say mocking the whole internet thing these days of making a big thing about it before you've already done it.
Blogs are great for family and friends to follow your escapades.
I dunno, I was just reminded by your post of the 2 guys doing the same sort of thing as you cept they were going to surf in every state in the usa (I know , not much of a challenge) anyway half way through they blew up the engine of there van, so to pay for it they set up a bank acc for people to put donations into through there website, even had the local rag do a story on it encouraging people to donate, didn't give a thought to getting a job. So it's not you, it's the way your going about it, I just find the whole concept amusing.

Good luck, you'll need it if you react to every stranger that starts a conversation with you like your first response and thanks for making sure I never check your blog, are you sure your sponsors are after this type of publicity.

But as I said good luck, sure you'll have the trip of a lifetime and maybe even come back a changed person

I think if you get kidnapped along the way the seabreezers won't be chipping in any coin to help out for your ransom

Such a trip should be made for personal reasons....Why the need to brag err blog about it along the way...Hitch hiiking alone through africa? I think theres gonna be times when your not gonna want anybody to know whats goin on...Have you considered the dangers involved?(especially with an attitude like yours?)
Before you go any further id take some heavy self defence courses and then some P.R training.
Good Luck....

I admire your determination, but in reality, it might be a little different.

I have worked in west africa for a number of years, and it is not a place for the faintheart. You will never see me back there.

Just because of your skin color, (and they are not racist, just opportunists) you are a target as soon as you arrive.
Some stare at you out of curisoty, and others see you as $$$$'s, and I mean that in a life threatening way.

Be very careful where you tread, and above all who with.

Good luck, and we will only read about it if you have wealthy friends with connections. The blog won't last long as your belongings will disappear very quickly unless you have paid security.

Considering a lot of African countries you will be visiting are either coming out of or going into civil war you should have got the Australian SAS or navy seals to sponsor you

^^^^^^ and lame as our intrepid explorer seems to have checked out, perhaps he can sort out this Kony fella whilst "in country", that's sure to attract a sponsor or two btw a mate and I used to hitch from Trigg to Lano whenever the need arose during our adolescent years, wish the net was around then, could've attracted some sponsors I reckon
