Quote from the above text
Another surfer, Marc Baldan said he kept surfing for two hours after the attack and saw the helicopter collect the body."It's such a clear day you can see through the water," he said.He said the attack wouldn't put him off surfing, and he would return to the water tomorrow."It's a release. I don't know what I would do without it. It's not until you see one (a shark) that you think twice."

I understand if you turned up and didn't know any better, but surfing whilst a brother's body is still on the beach is a little silly, and maybe slightly disrespectful IMHO. But each to their own i guess

A minority thought, lets get out there while the lineups empty, others mingled on the beach, and others just got the hell out of there which is what I did. Very few ppl actually saw the scene on the beach. One traumatised guy ran a few hundred metres down the beach to warn others.

Mate I'm sorry that anyone has to see, or witness that. I guess everyone is different and it would change anyone I have been at a beach before an Ambulance left and its a strange feeling

I talked to my wife again and she said it would be hard, i guess not knowing what happened. So Im glad there was a witness at least to help his family get some closure. As i read somewhere else, i hope he got a few good waves in before his demise

After getting the call today to head to my local, I had a sense of de ja vu, sunny day, 2 foot waves, a weekend and groms and crew everywhere on our coast enjoying what should be our god given right to surf and enjoy our coast. Last year I was the first ranger to get to the fatality at Wedge and it shook me me to the core, I dealt with crew on the beach 30 minutes after the attack and put my work head on and worked through it. Amazing strength of those who were there to deal with this fatal attack and it was the same conditions as we had at Wedge. 2 foot beachies 50 metres from shore and a beautiful day.. why would you not be surfing...
I have 2 boys of 5 and 2 and want them to grow up with the same stoke I have had all my life, surfing, diving, swimming and spending their life as coastal dwellers.
Respect and love to those who have lost.
