Kelly was robbed at bells as was Owen in the infamous "floater gate" incident in brazil

Some good points in the article tho, when there is less than a point in it looks like hometown advantage wins no matter what country you are in.

I think rather than go with the two best waves imo they should do the best three waves and have the heats go for another 5-10mins.

Maybe also get rid of the no loser round 4? To adjust for the longer heats

Yep, I agree. That one is a bit of a trap, winner should go through and drop the rest. Heats for 35min each?

this was written by a us magazine wow. Slater was amazing no doubt but if you watch the entire heat not the highlight reel mick had slater that F**ked he had to paddle up to rincon to try and get a score. mick completely outsmarted the king. In the instance of floatergate fair enough adriano was on the ropes and a floater won it for him, will it happen again after all the scrutiny? Doubtful. I do think the judges are fair and at .133 of a point to a uni study that may not understand surfing in its entirity well wtf?? to each their own opinion.

^^ Looking at the highlights reel at the end of the article if you compare the turns of both surfers I think imo that Fannings were better and a 10 for one move shouldnt be given (maybe a 8.6 max), again imo.

Okay so on a loosely related matter... so the Nike Lowers Pro is on. I don't begrudge the money that Nike puts in, the sponsorships it offers the boys and girls to ride for them, but I'm afraid I can't take their name associated with a Surf event seriously. They have muscled in and thrown stickers on boards but seriously WTF have they got to do with surfing. Rhetorical question I know and I still sleep soundly at night but I just think it's a bit of a farce. Similar thing happened in kiteboarding. LF were just about the only brand promoting boots and wakestyle. Now that it is "cool" every kite brand known to man jumps on the band wagon.

As he steps off of his soap box....
