Is anyone else getting real, real, real sick and tired of seeing people advertise Jacks boards as 'Dale Chapman' boards?? I have been visiting gumtree a bit lately looking for new board and many say dale chapman, which I understand he has something to do with it... but come on!!

(i have also edited my message but I should also point out some second hand Jacks are also over priced in my opinion)

Yeah, I stay away from those popouts unless it's super cheap and something I need (picked up a mal for $150 and it goes alright). Normally stuff by the local shapers is decent and you get the odd gem on gumtree. Besides that I buy everything off there. To be honest, it's like buying a second hand car. Still rides the same but you're just not paying for the new board feeling

i am a supporter of the local shapers. but i reckon the jacks boards are good for what they are. pretty darn good quality for a board at $300. that type of money wouldn't even cover the materials so I presume they do it just to get people in the shop?

from what i hear dale chapman is involved to some degree - it says so on his website

I agree mate, but what I don't like is people having a crack at selling them second hand for 400 odd bucks or so. I guess it's a free country and we can try to sell what we want for what we like, but I wouldn't do it. If I had a Jacks, and it was second hand, I'd be happy to get 150 for it.

true - pretty rude to charge more than they paid!

some of the jacks fish boards look nice I reckon.
problem is the only seem to make fun boards and 80's style thrusters or fish.

my wife has a jacks fun board and it rides sweet

Is it just me or do the prices of boards second hand on sites like gumtree seem so over inflated? I'm looking for a cheap shortie and nothings decent...

makes it sound like hes cleaning out old boards from his garage. cuts and pastes the generic ad "turns like a short board, paddles like a long board, perfect for beginners thru to expert" for all the boards for sale.

Really? I didn't know this. I agree newguy, the prices are bad. I liked the old days where you paid to put an ad in the paper. That way, people would set reasonable prices, because they were paying for the ad. These days, given that the internet's free, people just have a crack, and put things up at inflated prices and see if they get any bites. If not, it doesn't bother them.

Well....my delta UFO sat on seabreeze for sale for months and I only had it for 250 bucks (brand new condition). Couldn't believe how long it took to shift - ended up selling for 200 on weekend which is a bargain.

I know hey, even a simple thing like this will turn alotta people away from the sport. People these days are so $$ driven and selfish. Bring back the good ole days. Less problems back then. Now back to scouring for a 6.0ish board...

A newguy on a 5'6!! I don't reckon that's the easiest board to ride. Might be changing that name to 'halfdecentguy' in a bit. Maybe you're talking yourself down mate!

I back the newguy but that name is short lived

On Jacks which were made back in the day for that filthy
mega surf fashion which was founded in WA,the man who
pumped out a massive amount of boards to make the shops
look like a surf shop blah blah, the shop lost 6 bucks on every
board sold BUT the marketing idea was to stitch the punters up
with all the other sh-t you need, cover, leggie, deck pads and so
on,made for the newguy lasted a few surfs and sh-t themselves
the guy who mass produced them is a sh-t hot shaper just had to
make them for a price point

So there's a sudden influx of firewire boards I've noticed for sale. Anybody know the reason why in maybe bad models? If I can get a good price, I'm almost tempted to get a particular one with 5 fin plugs so I can finally try out a quad fin!
