I'm down at Scarborough beach in Perth nearly every day.
Running around with my daughter, surfing, windsurfing or just running on the beach.

In all that time i kept seeing all these angles and perspectives that would make great images - but i never had the chance to capture them through a camera lense. Well not any more!

I also tried out some "hyper lapses" to try and get a hang of them. With varying results.

I set myself the limitation of (almost) always trying to shoot through something to give the scene a different perspective. I think i have succeeded... but you can be the judge of that.

Thanks for the positive comments.

It is great to be able to share some of the perspective I have of what I reckon is one
of the nicest beaches in the world. It may not be awesome for surfing that often but for families, swimming , bodysurfing, the odd beach run and the occasional surf it is pretty sweet.

Great work Matt, having moved back from Darwin and spending a fair bit of time there recently you really have captured it well.

I reckon you would get better results if you shot at a wider aperture...
Couple it with a Vari ND and open that lens right up.
It would just help to separate the surfer from the foreground.

Always like watching your stuff (and everyone elses for that matter!).

Agree with that comment.
The way de focus ranges into focus on a fast long reach lens is quite hypnotic.
Unfortunately I don't have an f2.8 zoom! I did shoot wide open on my zoom but it's only an f5.6 at the long end.

i do have a 20 f1.7 and a fast 12-35f2.8 with is which is absolutely my go to lens for wides.and I use vari nds on these

Here is one I shot around Scarbs wide open on those lenses

Need to invest in long fast glass!
