Anyone tried a Firewire Submoon Mal.I'm thinking of retireing my 25 year old McCoy 7' minni before I wreck it completely and having 4 firewires already I thought I'd go with the epoxys I know.

I know a couple of guys who have them, they go really well in both small and good waves.
There is a good clip if Ian Cairns ripping on one at Trestles on Youtube from memory.

Hey mate I have the 8'11 and am very happy with it, I'm around 105 kegs and it's plenty of board for me, most of the volume is in the middle of the board with a super thin nose and tail, running it as a quad, good speed, whilst I don't get it vertical it can be thrown around pretty easily. I'm looking at the 8'2 next I think it has around 60 litres. The 8'11 paddles as well as any 9'6 mal but surfs so much better.
I would be interested to hear from anyone who has ridden the 8'2???
Cheers

I surfed with a bloke who was on one in four foot waves and it looked to be going well. It was his second and he had up sized from the 8'.

Thanks guys,as usual some good info. The reason I asked the question on the short board forum is most surfers have a quiver which includes a board that suits those dribbley, small, guttless swells but your desperate to get in the ocean! The submoon sounds perfect as the McCoy has heaps of thickness all theway through and not much rocker.Looks like I'm going to stimulate the economy a wee bit in the new year.
