Ok so I had a surf yesterday and this dude paddled past me and basically left a full deodorant/aftershave slick behind him. I'm a smoker and I could smell this guy from at least ten metres away.
Do sharks like deodorant? Serious was there ever a question on all the shark attack victims on what deodorant/aftershave they wear?

It was like paddling an oil tanker as it was breaking up, I know sunscreen kills coral , I put it to seabreeze that deodorant attracts sharks

I was under the impression that smokers attract sharks.

I think Batman's shark repellent was actually deodorant, but it only worked because the shark was out of the water. The inverse rule might apply in this case.

I'd always wondered that, I smoke port royal like a pirate so I smell of rum and spices. I probably have similar hygenie to most pirates too so I reckon I'd kill the bag of teeth through toxic shock, nicotine and years of healthy living just being absorbed into its oesophagues until it coughed and shat itself at the same time.

what about coconut wax???? Do we really want to smell like coconuts?

I don't even know if I'm serious but I think I am

I always wondered if the metrosexual hair products on the dudes from Perth did the same...........I have followed the greasy trails as I've paddled out ??

Personally I think if anything it would repel them. Sharks have a much stronger sense of smell and their nostrils are used more for smelling than breathing like us humans.

So maybe he's onto something leaving his oil slick behind him...

Have you ever been skunked in a pool while swimming laps? You can smell the skunk from 10-15m away quiet easily and i think most people look around to see who it is? We know that a sharks sense of smell is hundreds, possibly thousands of times better than ours so they would be able to smell you from a reasonable distance?

You never know they might be partial to a hint of Old Spice or Lynx Africa
