Just got out of the water at second car park in trigg, riding the 6'4" Wayne Lynch Hybrid. It was insanly fun. An absolute ball tearer. Padelled like a demon, catching every wave that I wanted. When on the face it felt really loose, turned on a dime, coming off the top and felt amazing underfoot. Just able to build up speed and sit in the pocket. As it was closing out a fair portion of the time I pulled into close out sandy barrels, but it felt really steady.
I normly ride a standard 6'0" and was a bit sceptical taking it out with the extra size and volume, but it allowed me to turn and paddel really easily. Duck diving was no issue as it is a really nice shaped board.
Cheers to Ross and all the guys at Longboards Scarborough, for twenty bucks you cant go wrong. Im going to have to order myself one YEEEEEEEEW.

Last weekend I took the Joel Tudor-Good Karma for a splash.
Its got the lightness, toughness and your typically overdone tuflite paintjob/pinstrip matched with some single fin styling.
Usually I ride a 5'6" Tuflite fish so Im use to the buoyant, clunking stiffness of epoxy and the slip and slide of a twin fin. I stand about 175cm tall about 70kg and am built like a pussy willow.
First surf was after Saturdays NW squall around mid morning when it went glassy and started rolling down the beach. It was clean peaky surf with the odd shoulder to ride along.
At 6' by ~21" and 2.5"thick the JTGK paddles like a mal and duckdives like a shortboard.
Paddles onto waves best with a bit of a Dennis Lillee 'run up'. The full rails up front didnt seem to like late or sketchy takeoffs unless your weights well back over the single fin. Off the bottom it draws long and sweet. In fact my overall statement for this board would be - that it rides best in and around the pocket or rising and falling along the face. Its not your typical shortboard - its a single fin. No matter how much you wiggle or pump you are not gonna move it (just like your ex girlfriend) but if you can find some rhythm and a bit of momentum you will be styling. I got the odd feeling that when you rode it straight up and down that it tended to slow under the drag of its own rocker but get it rolling from rail to rail then it would loosen up and become a heap of fun.
Under the feet of a better surfer Im sure it could be taken into all sorts of surf.
Under mine though its not the kind of board Id have as a be-all-and-end-all.
I got three happy surfs out of it in a weekend from clean peelers to junky arvo rubbish.
If I had the $900 odd bucks for one Id get it in a flash...or if I was the kinda guy that wanted to grow dreadlocks, play bongo drums around a campfire and woo the kinda girls who have hair in all kinds of places.
