Are there any Doctors out there or anyone knows how to stop or minimise Cramp.
I surf right through Winter and I'm fine but in the Summer less because of no swell.
I don't exercise when I'm not surfing apart from walks around the lake at home.
I went for 2 surfs over the past 2 weeks or so and I was really badly affected by cramp. The first time so bad I had to come in - and ouch !!! very painful !
I take Magnesium tablets faily regularly along with Vitamin tablets but the cramp won't go away. Is there any form of medication that gets rid of cramp, or any suggestions ?

Hey Loner, Yeah spots on the money mate. I have found after a long surf i cramp up a bit. i find that those sport drinks seem effective you can buy the powder from the shops and mix your own. I wouldn't trust vitamin tablets myselfe but if you think they work for you then hey neck em.

Up your salt intake. Within reason of course. The low-salt fad has resulted in many processed foods having reduced levels.

salt and stretching seems to do it for me..

not recently though - havnt done squat but my dad was a gymnast, so i got pretty good at it growing up.

otherwise, there are certain foods that have no scientific evidence of reducing it but i heard that avocado and melons also seemed to help them, i dont condone it.. just a rumour i heard haha.

i'd stick with stretch (before and after) plus, drinking as much water as you can.

Done !! So much help - I appreciate it.
I used to do Tai Chi a few years ago - I'll start that again for sure.
And on Friday night I usually have a couple of beers , chips, munchies etc.
So I'll change the beer for a health aid drink , increase the salty potato chips to 2 bags instead of 1 and eat more Avacado.
I'm told that Magnesium helps to lower cramp too.
Thanks guys !
