Hey all
Heading to Bali for a quick 3 week break, just wondering how much one pays for accommodation on those cane bed things (i.e. cheapest) and if there is anywhere dirt cheap to stay in Canggu. On a super budget as this is a quick unplanned trip and would appreciate advice. Also, is it still best just to get a bemo, or is it as cheap to rent a motorbike and get up to Canggu by bike.

Last 3 month trip was years ago and never really stayed in Bali for long, went out island. Appreciate any advice or help.
Thanks
Oscar

Was over there last month.
Hired a scooter with board racks for $5 a day from Edy's in Poppies Lane 2.

Ride up to Canggu and look around for posters on trees, there were a few offering cheap accomodation with phone numbers, also ask around in shops, seems some families have built bunk rooms behind their shops.

Maybe accomodation would be cheaper inland a bit, doesn't take long to get to the beach on a scooter !

Thanks for the heads up guys, much appreciated. Another question about Canggu, I surfed the main break last time, but I've heard there are some good river mouths and maybe some other good breaks around there. Did you stay just at the main break?

I have never stayed there , primarily because the wind usually kicks in by lunchtime and there was'nt much else to do down there or places to surf out of the wind. I just found it worked better to stay in town and keep options open. Its only 40 mins away anyway.

I stayed at the warungs in Balangan last time i was there. They are on the beach with a good break right out the front. Dreamland is not even 10 mins away on scooter. All the other breaks not that far away. We paid 6000 for a room with a double bed in it. (absalutely nothing else in the room besides the bed and mozzy net).

Would go there again for sure

Perenan is the break to the north, and Berawa is the break to the south, I surfed both of these completely uncrowded

What are the breaks like that you mention? Never heard of them but pretty keen to get barrelled as often as possible. I remember surfing Medewi in '96 but it was a pretty fat wave? Saying that, average and uncrowded is always better than perfect and crowded :)

both nice waves but a bit fat, although I was surfing on a high tide.
Am planning to stay at Medewi sometime soon, so good to hear you got waves there too.

I'm with you re: the crowds !

Just been staying at leggies at bingin (behind micks place). Nice clean big rooms with fan and there is a pool for 200,000 rp.

Bingin was smoking tonight, 3-4ft tubes but pretty hectic.

Thanks guys, getting pretty excited, boards packed and ready to go... only problem I have is I want to take 3 boards but will be travelling by motorbike (and from memory, bikes only take 2 boards on the racks). Any ideas on the best place to stash a board if I decide to head off for a few days (got Lonbok in mind at the moment).
Cheers
