I have just moved over to Perth from Qld and have brought my 9'1" mctavish and an old 6'2".

I have been looking into getting a shorter board (than my mal) which will be a good all rounder that i could use on the Perth beachies as well as when i head down south. Possibly a fish but i need some advise on what shapes/sizes/tail would best suit. Im 180cm and 85kg, intermediate surfer.

Sorry mate i can't help you with WA board stores, but if your looking at a fish ,have a real close look at the 7S fish,by the sound of things it will be perfect for you!

I surf a 5'6" 7S SuperFish 90% of the time for metro surf and use a 6'1" and a 6'4" for the more powerful waves down south / up north. (this was before I got my quad from Treehouse, which I surf all the time now).

Can't comment on the shorter eggs, but I have ridden a 6'4" treehouse egg.

I'd say that 6'5" and above would suit someone that is used to longboards, but if you ride shortboards, then a bit under 6' is certainly the way to go.

Canard quads are interesting beasts though. You might want to have a ride on a one to see if you like the feel before you make the decision. In a nutshell, canard quad vs. thruster: quad = super fast and smooth. thruster = control and drive (but slow ).

heh, I shouldn't be promoting the fish so much. Means that more people will get good surf more often, which means more crowds...

It just amazes me that people still try and surf sponno boards in sh1tty beach breaks
