As it is going to be hot I would advise that you wear a bikini.

get yourself down to Secret Harbour.

I wont be there this weekend as I'm at work, but I'll be there all next week.

Yeah secret harbour is good to learn at. doesn't break right on the shore like scarbs. Does anyone know if there are good banks around, I live in gerro now so havent been down that way for a while but will be heading down in a couple of weeks.

Need a fair bit of swell down freo way at this time of year but you could try leighton if there are any banks.

In all seriousness, welcome to the wonderful world of surfing. Surfs Beach (Secret Harbour) is a nice safe location to start your surfing odessy. At this time of the year the beaches near Fremantle don't attract a lot of swell. Also, although Bikini's and surfing are a very attractive proposition you will quickly figure out that the rubbing between your bare stomach and the board will cause a rash.

Hi Foxy, welcome to the forum and congrats on getting your first board. Im sure it will bring you many hours of fun and enjoyment. One of my mates called Josh is a great surfer and Im sure he can give you all the "tips" you need. Im sure he would'nt mind !
The other boys are right, stick with it and dont cop any flack from anyone. There should be more girls in the water I reckon. Enjoy

...Yes...Ian Burgess is quite right...on these very hot summer days it's always a good idea to wear a Bikini. But do it up nice 'n' tight.
We don't want it coming off in the surf now do we.

aside from asthetics, yeh, bikini prob not the best shout regardless of the heat.
Early sat morning you may get a wave but not much after that on the weekend. Check out swellnet.com for surf reports as well as here of course... good luck

cool Kernsy... North of Lanno has some nice breaks. Ya have to be careful though.
There are a few 4WDs up that way that did the Lawrence of Arabia thing.
But they never returned.
Always remember to deflate the tyres and take a cut lunch.

...Hey is that why they call you bakes 11 coz ya got baked on the beach?
Actually Guilderton is the kind of place place that lends itself well to gettin' tanked on the beach. I've called in there quite a few times on my way back from Lanno and done exactly the same thang. There's zilch waves there, but a lot of family type activity like fishing, boating, eating at the store after you've waited 40 miniutes for your rotten carrot cake and cold coffee, walking up that siily sight seeing plank thing, and more times that not the SouWest sea breeze is F'n howling be the time you get there.
I remember walking up this huge F'n sand dune to find the panoramic lookout to no where which has views North and South of beach.
Yeah why not... take a bot of JB and head for blissville.

11 is my jersey.
simple but effective way to remember my login details hehe. boring when u know the truth isnt it. hahah

which makes me curious why yours is 'loner'

I've had some good waves and moore river, but only when the river mouth breaks. And then your surfing in mucky brown water.

Lanno is good when you have a dinghy.
