Has anyone here got any hot tips for accommodation at Balian? I've been plenty of times but not for a couple of years and looks to be a heap of new places sprung up. PP is now ridiculously over priced so thought I might try something different.
Thanks

www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/16416347

Stayed here a couple of years ago, amazing place, has that home like feel to it, we had amazing dinners cooked each night and breakfast each morning.

Only thing to consider is that you will need a driver to get you to the break, or you can walk along the beach and swim across the river

Normally stay at Istana with Michael and Komang rooms are good food excellent if not there then at the Balian Villas that now rent out rooms you can see straight into the break from the room top.

get both for around 50-60 / night

Thanks guys. Should have added in that I am a lazy pri#k and don't want to have to walk down the hill. Perhaps the south side may be the go now

Totally agree, we saw some swirls, tails and boils in front of the river

The right hander is a better wave but a good one puts you right in front of the river mouth - the water is creepy and you just want to get the hell out of there - and then you see another nice wave swing through and you go another one ha ha

Yeah mate, 18-26 October. Make sure you're not there when the Russians have bought the Peak, was a right prick last year.

Balian Surf Camp is right on the beach in front of the right hander. Owned by the local village and really well maintained. Stayed there for a week earlier this year and highly recommend it.

When we were there a huge Russian bloke paddled out too far to the right and ended up on that Rip and got dragged across the beach and right across a Balinese blokes fishing line, legitimately got tangled in the line and one of the boys had to paddle out and explain to him why he was going no where ha ha

That was funny but surfing with 5 or 6 of them on the inside was not
