I have been gifted a short trip to Bali for 5 days - very lucky.......the sad news is that the flight I am on is with the lovely people of Jetstar and as a result I can only take a relatively short board 6'4 tops.
Does anyone know where a good spot is to hire something bigger and can you get decent boards over there for hire these days? On previous trips I have always taken my own boards but it looks like this time I will only be taking the POD and not the 6'10".
I've flown jetstar and took 4 boards in two bags, including a mini-mal (don't ask) and wasn't charged more than the normal for two pieces of sporting gear.
thanks for that everyone.......the flights are via Darwin (stopping off to see my Mum) and the plane that I have to take to Darwin will not let me take boards above 1.9m. There is a length restriction of 1.9m on internal flights and 2.7m on international sadly. Internal flights are on A320 and A321 planes. International are on A330 planes.
I have just recalled them and spoken to someone else who has advised me that I can drop my boards at Sydney airport and they can go straight to Bali on an A330 flight and I can pick them up there. Yay!!!!!!! Fingers crossed this will actually happen.
Looking forward to some clean overhead days with no wetsuit.........

Dont trust Jetstar when it comes to shipping surfboards. I was left stranded at the airport with a surfboard and told by the check in girl "not my problem", nice way to start the holiday. In the end I had to get it freighted from Sydney to Gold Coast and it costed me more to get the surfboard shipped up than an airline ticket for me. Needless to say I wasnt happy.
