Hi I am heading to Bali with my family and some friends. My brother & I surf (16 years old) but my family friends same age all can swim but not good surfers - where would be good to surf so we can all enjoy the days. Dont think Kuta/Padma Reef is good at xmas time of the year people say. Our family are happy to stay near where the better surf is so we are all happy. First time to Bali
Any ideas would be great

The only time I was in Bali in Jan it was continually onshore at Kuta which meant it was offshore at Sanur and Nusa Dua so surfed there every day. Waves were very small, mostly under head high though.

There is a book you can buy called 'Indo Surf and Lingo'. This book will show you all the best places to surf at any given time of the year dependant on your level. It also gives you an insight into the culture of Bali and their lanuage. I have been to Bali four times and still refer to this book frequently. It is like a bible for surfers visiting Indo. Take care!

I reckon it's a gamble.

I surfed perfect overhead, uncrowded impossibles and Uluatu for the whole 8 days I was there in January a few years ago......then I went back at the same time the following year and only got a couple of surfs in 10 days at Nusu Dua (everywhere else was ****e).
