Just pump some sand like they did in QLD, and do it four or five spots to spread out the crowd.

it was a failure... banks only last a week

the sand pumping monster was good at killing lots of marine life and water clarity was disgraceful.

they are putting sandbags back at narrowneck as i type..there is a link somewhere.

i hope it works this time

Our banks only last that long anyway, they could put a base down then sand on top. Anything would be better than what we have.

How about they just stop raking and levelling the sand between Brighton and Trigg on a daily basis?

Let the sand move and build up naturally, leaving natural banks and gutters, then maybe we won't get as many 100m long closeouts....

Unfortunately the idiots that leave crap on the beach are too blame for that. But I do agree, also Razz is onto it they could do exactly that.

Naaaar, m8, theres juss buggerall sand along tha whole stretch.

Been like that for a couple of years now.

Nothin' new. It'll come right again in due course. It's juss that Huey's got better places to be focussed on. He hasn't forgotten us entirely.

As mentioned above it will be a meat market that I doubt I'll ever venture into but if it takes even one kook away from me in the surf then it's a good thing. It'd be interesting to see if the sand formation up and down the beach might change a little and create a few gutters here and there.

Combine that with the wave pool and it should be less crowded?!?

Good luck with dwindling numbers. In Japan, for instance, numbers boomed in the early eighties then died off slowly over the decade to stay steady for a further decade. Then they saw a slow but steady rise in surfers (and SUPS I fear). Now, with surfing in the 2020 Tokyo Owimpicks, numbers are soaring, and longtime secret places are getting overrun.

In short, if you think it's bad now, you are in for a rude surprise.

Enjoy it while you can.

Oh, and I forget which shi++y beach they'll be at for the OOOOOs...oh, Tsugasaki, in Chiba, but it's a black sand (read: hot as buggary) beach with gutless, short waves the norm unless there's been a storm. But no, I don't think it'll be storm season. Side-on by noon.

Chiba is as busy as ever, Shimoda & Kanazawa too, Izu islands quiet during the week, chocka weekends...not too many in Sendai where my missus was 2 weeks ago. Wakayama prefecture had heaps of uncrowded waves, some you could surf on your own that were going off by Perth standards when I was there last April. Other places like Shikoku are ok during the week & then busy on the weekend. Not too many at Fu-kushima (thought I was swearing lol) either, but I would not recommend surfing there with the nuclear reactor issues.

NO worries. Load up on the iodine and line the wettie with tinfoil. Empty waves as far as the eye can see.

lol...nah I will give it a miss Wakayama or Shikoku would be my choice if I had to live there, but Shimoda would probably be the compromise with the missus. Olds are retiring to Hakone in the near future...at least the airfare to Hawaii is cheap & easy

might halve or third the numbers at the point over summer.
that in itself would be nice...
Metro we dont have options, so yeh as said above so much spent on other sports why not surfing.
will it work or will it just silt up and make a big mess?

Buy a place in Scarbs and watch the value sky rocket if the get the reef right!

I think they should look at building three as opposed to one along a stretch from Contacio heading North. Problem is getting it right.... BUT!!! if they nail it... it would be an awesome bonus for the area and surfers generally....well the handful that will dominate the line up anyway

Every km between Swanny up to Triggs..., whack in a series of angled groynes....., not unlike the cut south of Mandurah. A series of City Beach groyne banks....., Also...., Just north of Contacio could dig a big f*** off marina/canal development...., flood the bejesus out of the land back of sandhills...., Win, win
