Any shapers do reverse engineering in wa? Got a board I ride all the time and would rather get it reproduced than spend extra coin and risk damage with freight from east coast.

Any shaper could re-produce your board for you......it will not be completely perfect though as human elements are involved.

In the States there are a few spots that allow you to take your board into their shop and they can scan them so you can re-engineer it that way.....they can then save into a file format for you to take away or you can get it cut out from a CNC machine there and then. Do not know anyone in this country doing that as of yet - I am sure there are but its probably not heavily advertised as the big boys would not be too keen to see their shapes being ripped off by everyone.

Here is a spiel off one of the websites.....

Surfboard replication is achieved by taking several hundred measurements (mapping) and photos of an original board. Both the photos and the measurements are then used together to recreate the original board. To nail a replica spot on using this method takes several hours. I personally prefer this method to scanning because a scan takes in all of the boards surface flaws, such as pressure dings. This is an important difference because a magic board that has been ridden cannot be replicated by scanning, but can be replicated through mapping and photos. I offer replication services to both individual surfers and shapers.

Yeah you are right, this is the easiest cheapest and most ethical option. Who knows it might be even better than the original

Maybe Mac could use there number.....

There is a shaper up here who copies early LBs, he has a jig set up, pretty smart set up how he does it..

If money is the only concern, +1 to a local shaper. Furthermore they could tinker and shape it additionally to the likes and dislikes you may have with your current board.
