My girfriend and I are looking at the Maldives for holidays in June.

We have searched a few sights, Perfect Wave/Surf Safaris/Atoll Tours etc.
From our research we know June isnt great because Pasta Point is hosting a pro surf tournament (think first 2 weeks in June)
Other than that we have been told the crowds can be excessive.
Some resorts have daily boat tours out to the different breaks for $80 a day, not sure how good these are.
My girl doesnt surf and is happy sitting on a beach reading a book.

We would appreciate any advice/information.
Thanks

Not sure about the Maldives mate, thats still on my "get to" list but I do have one concern. Im sure yr chick is great like mine but be warned mate, SOMETIMES girlfriends and surf trips dont mix if they dont surf.
Im not trying to put you off by any means , but they can only sit on the beach and read for sooo long. B4 long you might be the one getting frustrated cause there's 6tf walls in front of you and she's finished the book 2 days ago.
Have you concidered any other locations????

If you check out the island that was called Lohifushi, they have apparently done up the resort and changed the name. The resort and island is big enough to keep a non-surfer entertained, it has all the pools, bars, restaurants and watersports available. It even has an oval and full scuba stuff.
It also has the world class Lohi's lefthander peeling around one end of the island. When I stayed there was a boat or two leaving to the other breaks, Cokes, Chickens, Sultans, Honky's etc in the morning and afternoon.
I had my honeymoon there and copped no grief from the new wife.

The resort at Lohifushi is now called Hudhuran Fushi, and the watersports centre there is run by a german company called Waterproof sports: http://www.waterproofsports.org/pageID_7156033.html
They organise surf trips too from the resort.

Hudhuran Fushi's Lohis is quite near to Pasta Point too. There are a couple of other resorts too with breaks just next to them (so you don't need to charter a boat) such as: Kandooma, Dhonveli Beach (Tari Village Resort), Full Moon, Kanifinolhu Resort.

Like what P co said, all resorts in Maldives have a variety of watersports, land sports, gym, pool, spa, trips to local islands & Male' to keep everyone happily occupied.

Checkout Hudhuranfushi (Lohis) Is a great spot to go for a surf trip if taking the missus. There is a bar that over looks the break on the island. They also have boats that go out a few times a day to a number of other breaks for about 3 hrs at a time. I was there oct 2005 and found it not to busy. Having a surf break on the island is good as you can pick your time to surf. Try and get the boats in the packege as i think it is cheaper that way.
