Got one of the Tom Wegener 6'2" Alaia to demo. These are the SLX epoxy ones from the GSI SeaGlass Project. Will ride it myself over the next few day's and then release it to the dude's. Might ask for the small down payment of a Brownes Coffee Chill, sound fair?

Do you get the coffee chill back when you give the board back?

Heaps more than a wooden alaia, proberly paddles like a 6'6". Bit of a challenge to use but interesting fun. Nathan got a bit of a feel for it on his second session.
Scarborough has had a bit of shape the last week but it's still pretty short and sharp with a critical take off, would suit a more spilling wave particularly when learning.
I think I have invented a few new ways to wipeout whilst riding the sucker. A classic is when you go to pull out of a wave you are paddling for and it just keeps going only backwards now and sends you over the falls in this position.

I never understood the desire to ride an alaia. But then, last winter at my local there was this one semi-local guy who does alright on a shortboard and he was riding it a couple of times. The second time, there were a couple of young blonde teenage girls out there that he knew, and they were going absolutely nuts about how cool they thought he was. Talking about him non-stop for about an hour. Man, that guy was in for a threesome that night and he didn't have to do anything, just struggle on the wooden plank on a few waves.
