I've thinking for a while about doing one of these for the upcoming 11 ASP events but not too sure if there would be any interest or not, so I'll explain the idea (it came to me after playing a fantasy football on another forum, it would also make all the ASP events heaps more interesting.... )

Each team owner will have $32 million in Fantasy money to draft their own team, buying surfers who are valued according to their current rankings and projected performance in the 2011 WCT surfing events in year.

First event: Quicksilver Pro, Gold Coast Australia, between the 25th of February and March the 7th.

YOU PICK 4 SURFERS TO MAKE UP YOUR TEAM - Each team owner must draft in 4 surfers without exceeding their $32 million salary cap. Before each event, a surfer values may increase or decrease, but the cost against your salary cap is the cost when you purchased your surfer. You or swap in and out surfers between competitions, just do not exceed your $30 million salary cap.

Transfer market prices:

Kelly Slater: $11 million
Owen Wright: $10 million
Gabriel Medina: $9.5 million
Joel Parkinson: $9.5 million

Mick Fanning: $9 million
Jordy Smith: $9 million
Taj Burrows: $8.5 million
John John Florence: $8 million
Julian Wilson: $8 million
Michel Bourez: $7 million
Adriano De Souza: $7 million
Josh Kerr: $7 million

Bede Durbridge: $5 million
Jeremy Flores: $5 million
Alejo Muniz: $4 million
Kolohe Andino: $4 million

Other surfers/wildcards: $3 million

Finishing points:

1st (overall winner): 225 points.
2nd (losing finalist): 150 points.
3rd (losing semi finalists): 100 points.
4th (losing quarter finalists): 50 points.

Highest wave scores of the comp:

1st: 40 points.
2nd: 20 points.

Anybody interested - I'll bump this thread closer towards when to Quicksilver Pro kicks off.

kazmaras is the best.

Ohh as for a fantasy league, I gonna setup a private Seabreeze fantasy league at http://www.fantasyactionsportsleague.com/fantasysurfing if enough people are interested -just thought it might be too much hassle -registering etc etc, for most.

Nah wasn't me but I may have been the only one that actively traded as I done OK i think. Fantasy Surfer already has a pretty good league with 1000's of people globally. To save your hassle the easiest way would be to set up a group on there.

I am in a couple of groups with people across the world. Some take it so seriously, money bets etc.

I like to do it to keep track of the bottom half of the ratings, these are the ones that make or break your team. The top guys are reliable, that's why Fantasy surfer has 9 man teams an scores it so you do better with 9 that do OK than picking the top 4 perhaps.

I like that system, makes it way harder.

I know you weren't talking to me but as I mentioned above was contemplating setting up a private Seabreeze league on one of them proper ASP fantasy league sites but just not sure if enough people would be interested? (and personally I'd prefer that as well)

Woohoo thanks CMC, didnt realise I won the comp last year til now. Goes to show you can fluke it. Due to arrival of my newborn I was too busy and I didnt update my surfers for at least half the events. Will have to back up this year then.

Hey guys, Sorry havnt been on for a bit.

THe surf tipping is always fun,,

I have used Fantasy surfer for the last few years but to be perfectly honest the administraitors of that website couldnt organise a root in a brothel.

Yea we should crank it up again this year,, but id strongly suggest looking into using another site, there are a few out there.

2 years ago we did a bit of a trial run towards the end of the season and we ran a full year here last year. If anyones keen to organise it in 2012 please,, be my guest
