Heading over mid March..

Just wanted some info on G land. Im thinking of shooting across for a couple of days.

Whats the easiest/fastest yet semi cost effective way of getting there?

Anyone have any stories/advise about the place they think I may be interested in?

Cheers

I don't know about the quickest/easiest way to get there these days..but i would imagine that speedies on the high tide would still be pretty impressive though.

grajagan.com/
is bobby's camp, there are a couple of others
if you have limited time take the boat for an extra 100 bucks each way ,unless you really like indo road trips and you see sweet FA on the night trip over there and spend plenty of time waiting for the boat at garajagan village, although i think there is a road through the national park now they use when it doesn't rain, take the boat anyway
tide is important you can surf at low tide but your destined to loose some skin..best to arrive on the day with high tide in the morning(around 9 -10) and then the high tide follows you through the day for the rest of the week gives you some more surfing time although this goes out the window if the swell charts don't coincide..
and generally it gets a morning sickness (wobbly)until the wind blows up which is the best time to surf it as the longer sections hold up better
some of the old cosmic farts swear on the lunar cycle (i am just an old fart)
don't forget booties
don't wear green boardshorts (local superstition)
do drink bintang late in the arvo watching the lineup
and paddle, paddle to your arms drop off and your shoulder's pop and your back splits in two.....and then you know your onto something !!
cheers mate
ps take the boat!!

lots of people pay more to go on sydney harbour on the jet boat ..last time i went old captain crazy had all 45-50 feet jumping out of the water and you get 2.5 to 3hours of it!! not my idea of fun but beats sitting in stinking suzuki carry for 8-10 hours with Mark "made" webber...the run to the mentawaii from padang in a speedboat is in an entirely different league!! back and centre if you know boats....aircon is nice at bobbys if your budget allows..get used to eating small black flys....i wont spoil the adventure any more!! enjoy
