Well over 2015 I set myself a goal of being able to navigate a wave and around people in the line up and put in a few fun little turns.
Im pretty happy with what I achieved this year and would confidently say I could mange that now after only 18 months worth of surfing. I went from a 7'2 NSP Funboard to owning another two boards at 6'8 and 9'5 and now getting a custom vanguard made for clean days and points.

However this year i intend to step up my game and start learning manoeuvres like cut backs, big carves, snaps and those little on wave 360 things maybe. I think airs are a while away haha

So what are your New Year surfing resolutions? be it travel, size of wave, manoeuvres, number of boards, building etc.

Cheers,

Mitch

Surfing is a sport that really has it's ups and downs.
Good sand banks, the right swell direction and favourable winds.
My resolution is to keep motivated during these down times.
As I am getting on I find this is more important than ever.
So, more fun type exercises.
Push ups, swimming laps and bike riding.
And more holidays where I can increase my wave count, without the crowds.

2 resolutions. More surf less work is my 1st goal. A bit more exploration on the boat when its back up and running is the other one.

Simply - to get back into it. 2015 was a terrible year - Perth metro was consistently bad... and I just could not be bothered with it. Consequently I put on weight and my surf fitness suffered badly...

I've booked a 12 day Indo trip in Sept - my first in 30yrs... so need to drop 12-15kg and get surf fit again.

Have started swimming laps (occasionally), and have started riding to work 2-3 times a week (43km round trip)... also accompany the misses walking the Dog on the nights I don't ride.

And yes Buster... I did even go in today... tiddly little knee high waves on the Mal at Trigg 3rds. It all goes into the 'surf fitness' bucket...

Here's to a better 2016 for all...
