You're probably best to stick it halfway along the box and leave it there.

Im with smh, I dicked around with my 9'6 fireball's centre fin, moved it forward from the middle and it didnt do it for me, moved it to the back and it pivoted really well but wasnt that good on other moves. Put it back in the middle and hey presto, exactly where I needed it to be.

On a FB,I run a 7 inch fin about 50mm from the from of the box.

Single in the middle as the boy's have said,if you still having trouble
you'll be amazed what dropping a inch in fin size will do,but I wouldn't
go smaller than a 9 inch on a single fin. I've done this on a redline 9.6
from 10 too 9 inch and its a completely different board.

I personally would put the fin just slightly rear of centre - not too much - just a tad. If you put it forward it will loosen up the board but you will lose drive and the board will be wobbly on harder turns. On a single fin the type and size of fin is pretty critical and a lot more so than on a 2 + 1. A nice dolphin type fin in the 9-10" range should be perfect. What type of fin is on the board now ?

I have one of these boards rode it today in solid overhead + waves, its a sweet sensation. No good in small stuff, bust it out on down the line powerful waves

well i took out the 9" ofishl and replaced it with a fcs 8" cutaway. still kept it in the centre of the box, this has made the world of difference on the 2' to 3' foot beach slop that i ride most of the time.i think i would need the 9" fin on larger quality waves but thats a rarety at my local.

Hey that's great, some people say there's nothing in an inch but it does matter.

Which posses the next question, What's the difference between say 9.1 to 9.3
and or 9.3 to 9.6,keeping the same width and thickness?

When you say its a completely different board what do you mean? Is it not advisable to use a smaller fin as a single fin?

If you are going to ride a board as a single fin then you want at least an 8" or 9"fin. I've got a 10 foot single fin with a big pivot fin in it with heaps of surface area and it goes good but am keen to get a dolphin type fin in it to see how that goes. I dont know a lot about fins but have mucked around with different set ups on thrusters and quads and they do make a difference to how a board feels.
A good fin or a good combination can really liven a board up.
